Spoleto Spoleto Spoleto. It's all happening and we all know it. If you didn't know, or if you want to know more about what performances, art, lectures, and demonstrations are taking places between Spoleto Festival USA, Piccolo Spoleto or Spoleto Fringe, then click here.
If you're not feeling the Spoleto scene this Memorial Day Weekend are are looking for something more, the Charleston City Paper has a solid weekend round-up of all of the best events taking place from May 28th - 30th.
If you're looking to get far away from downtown and the droves of tourists, head out to Freshfields Village Memorial Day Weekend concert series taking place all weekend long on Johns Island. The Southern Conference Baseball Tournament continues at The Joe this weekend and features the No. 1 ranked Citadel Bulldogs on their home field. In other sporting news, the Charleston Battery will be hosting the Real Maryland Monarchs on Saturday evening as they try and bounce back from recently suffering their first loss of the season. Finally, on Sunday, the Lowcountry HighRollers, the derby girls supreme, will be duking it out double-header style with the Sweet Union Rollergirls and Greenville Derby Dames.
Some other events to make a mental note of are the Art For Charity pop-up-gallery that features 27 South Carolina artists and is holding receptions throughout the month in order to raise awareness for local non-profit organizations. The cool part is that the proceeds from all artwork sold during the month will be going to various local charities. Fuel is turning two on Saturday and is holding a birthday block party bash to celebrate. Live music, food and drink, back patio fun and more will be happening from 3 to 10 p.m.
I'd say to avoid downtown at all cost and hit the beach, but unfortunately, Saturday is shaping up to be a bit wet.

Happy Memorial Day weekend, everybody.
