Update, February 25: Stephen Colbert, host of Comedy Central's The Colbert Report, was in Charleston this weekend to campaign for his big sister in her quest to occupy the vacant seat in South Carolina's 1st Congressional District.
The comedian said he "couldn't be happier" to help out.
Colbert-Busch is one of 18 candidates running for the open seat in Congress. She will opposeBen Frasier in the Democratic primary election on March 19. If she wins, she will run in the special election, scheduled for May 7.
Colbert-Busch has said that she does not plan to appear on her brother's show in advance of the election.

Elizabeth Colbert-Busch is seeking election in the South Carolina 1st District race to replace the seat left vacant by newly appointed South Carolina Junior Senator Tim Scott.
A product of Bishop England High School and the College of Charleston, Colbert-Busch is curently the director of business development at the Wind Turbine Drivetrain Testing Facility at Clemson University. She has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Propeller Club Port of Charleston, a founding member of Charleston Women in International Trade and on the College of Charleston’s Business College Alumni Advisory Board.
