In the wake of the death of a fourth-grade student, at Woodruff Elementary School, in Spartanburg, S.C., to an unconfirmed case of bacterial meningitis, DHEC and school officials made it a point to perform a full-scale disinfection of school property.

Everything from kitchenware and computer desks to school buses were sanitized for school's safety.

Meningitis is also being blamed for putting a Ft. Jackson soldier in the hospital last Thursday , and although she is suffering from a different strain, military officials are assured that there is no need to for panic in the barracks.
