South Carolinians can now pay traffic tickets and fines online

Online payments for traffic tickets and fines are now available in all counties of South Carolina.

The S.C. Judicial Department's Judicial Case Management System allows you to pay your tickets online with either a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover debit or credit card. Goodbye forever to snail mail and waiting in lines!

Come audition for American Idol in North Charleston

American Idol is once again setting up in the Charleston area to scout for talent from across the Southeast. 

On Friday, July 22, auditions will be held at North Charleston Coliseum for season 11 of the show. Registration will occur July 20 and July 21.

Here's details on how it will work:

Despite concern over rising mercury levels, DHEC's testing funds get the ax

Despite alerts of elevated mercury levels in both local waterways and fish over the past couple of years, budget cuts have forced the Department of Health and Environmental Control to put the brakes on a statewide campaign to combat the major health risk.

According to The Post and Courier, "the campaign was envisioned two years ago as an extensive epidemiological study to discover the extent of harm mercury has caused, especially in areas of the Lowcountry and in the Pee Dee."
